We can only live in the right now. We can’t control our future or change our past, but we can decide how we choose to move in this very moment.
When you arrive at decision points, choose the path that leads to good. That’s it. That’s all you have to know – right now I choose to do what is right, what is good. Framing your current circumstances with these simple guidelines will lead you to a happier life.
When you stare down the weight of your future it can seem overwhelming. When you work out the details of your future in advance – particularly the things you worry about most, you live and relive the emotions of those future moments as often as you allow your mind to go there. And those are only possible outcomes, not actual outcomes. That said, we essentially live out our fears and worries (possible outcomes) not once, but as often as we think about them and so often those fears and worries never actually come to fruition.
If you want the surest way to live joyfully…
“Live simply… love generously… care deeply… speak kindly… and leave the rest to God.”
***This quote came from the card on a statue of Mary I purchased at St. Mary’s Bookstore.
The statue was made by the Santa Teresita Statuary Company. Isn’t it beautiful?
