I couldn’t help but watch the end of the Super Bowl tonight when the fight broke out between the Seahawks and the Patriots and think, ‘what are you doing with your manhood?‘ It is such a disappointment to see grown men take a sporting event created for entertainment purposes to a place of anger and hatred. I watched the TV and saw grown men (who should know better) throwing punches and fighting with one another on national television. I saw ego and pride. I saw cowardice.
Many of those guys are surely fathers. What kind of example are you setting for your children?
You are someone’s son. What do your parents think of your actions?
You are someone’s grandson, what do your grandparents think of your actions?
You are someone’s brother. What do your siblings think of your actions?
More importantly, you are THE Father’s son. Are your actions pleasing to God?
What are you teaching the world? Yes, the world. You have been given a platform that spreads internationally. That platform is a gift which you’ve abused and misused.
Read the last sentence of Luke 12:48: ‘Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.’
Some might argue, ‘they can do what they want, they earned it.’ But did they really? Everything we have on this earth has been given to us. We deserve nothing, but we have a loving Father who desires to pour out his grace and blessings upon us despite our unworthiness. We have a responsibility to use our gifts and our corresponding platform for the glory of God and the more He’s trusted us with, the more He expects of us.
We deserve nothing, but we have been given everything. Will you step up to the plate? Will you accept the responsibility that has been given to you?
