Hi I’m Jackie. I’m a wife and a mother to two beautiful girls. When I started this blog in 2012 I was neither of those things. Wow! Life has changed! When this blog began I was looking for an outlet, a way to grow in my faith, and hopefully help others do the same.
The idea of this blog was spawned after I attended a rather life-changing retreat. At that retreat, several speakers shared testimonies about some of their least proud moments in life, the space that no one wants to claim or own up to, but exactly where we need met the most. Each speaker shared that it was in the midst of those dark spaces of life where they were made to know that God the Father met them there, was loving them there, and would carry them forward out of the darkness. Bad choices, sin, toil, and hardship aside, God helped each one of them rise from the ashes to be re-created into something new. As I listened to each person speak I realized, “I am not alone,” for maybe the first time in my life and that realization made me want to help others realize the exact same thing. Thus, this blog originated out of an effort to offer companionship on the journey, the journey of life.
Through sharing their stories about the chains that used to bind them, but that the Lord had since broken, each speaker’s testimony also helped to pull me out of the darkness, to understand I was not alone. The whole experience gave me permission (so to speak) to move past the sins of my past and begin a new way of living, little by little by little.
This blog launched as Laughs and Love because originally that name spoke to me about God’s unspeakable love and joy that he has for each of us. He extends His incredible love and mercy to each one of us and invites us into an authentic way of living joyfully and wholeheartedly as His creation. Over the years I have used this blog as a means to share some of the many ways He has done that work within me.
A lot of life has unfolded for me since I first launched this blog as Laughs and Love. I’ve since met and married my husband, we had our babies, and have lived in five different states – just to highlight the big things – so a small blog refresh with a brand new name seemed appropriate. Welcome to Jackie Perry Writes. This old space, too, is being re-created in a sense.
Although life has changed so much since my first post in 2012, the goal is still the same, to share this journey of life, the ups and downs and the lessons learned. Most importantly though, this is about the Lord, the work He is doing in me (and in you) and how He guides each of us along our individual path in life. Thanks for joining me on the Road of Life.
May He be glorified in my need,
Jackie Perry
