Years ago I went to a retreat in Philly and while there I had the opportunity to participate in and receive something called unbound prayer. It was nothing short of life-changing – both the retreat and unbound prayer.
According to the unbound prayer ministry, “Unbound prayer is premised on the belief that the Gospel can make a difference to your life. It is a powerful model of deliverance prayer that guides you in responding to the Gospel and receiving the Father’s love. Unbound prayer ministry focuses on the person receiving prayer.”
There are Five Keys to unbound prayer and they are:
- Repenting for sin and expressing faith in Jesus’ power to save
- Extending forgiveness to oneself and others, in agreement with forgiveness given through Jesus Christ
- Renouncing the lies, spirits, and tactics of the enemy
- Taking authority over spirits you have renounced
- Receiving the Father’s blessing
I am telling you all of this because there is a book that goes along with this practice called, Unbound, by Neal Lozano and I just began re-reading it. Well, I never managed to get through the entire book the first time, not for a lack of want, I just got distracted and pulled away from it. Anyway, as I began reading it this time around something socked me in the face right out the gate. It was something the author wrote in the Acknowledgments in the very beginning of the book, actually. As he wrote a thank you to his friend, Ann, for encouragement to write the book he stated, “I want to thank Ann for her help but most of all for speaking the words that released faith.”
…speaking the words that released faith.
All his friend Ann had done was ask him when he was going to write his book and offered to help him. In that small invitation she released his faith in himself and God. We have so much power in the words we choose to use. So much power, that we can actually release faith for other people. And if we can release faith with our words we certainly can release a boatload of other things with our words, for better or for worse.
This revelation is basically like a newly discovered super power. So let’s use our super power for good and choose to speak words that release things like:
Faith
+
Hope
+
Love
How are you going to choose to use your super power, for good or bad?
