STOP COMPLAINING! I wrote that in all capital letters because I’m shouting it. Don’t worry, I’m not shouting it at just you, I’m shouting it at myself too! Maybe that way I’ll be able to ram it into my thick skull until it sinks in and I’ll actually follow through on the thought. That’s my goal anyway and I’m putting it in motion…NOW!
I’ve totally been in a funk for the last…uh…month or so:-/ Yes, a whole month. Don’t judge me. I hate to admit it, but I’ve definitely let it go on for far too long. The moment I realized that I have been a big, awful complainer for far too long was today. I did catch a few glimpses of that reality over the past few weeks, but today was total confirmation that I need to take my own advice and turn the phrase “have to” into “get to”. I’ve been looking on the negative side of things, forgetting about all of the blessings in my life. So silly stupid of me.
So what, you ask, made me realize I’ve been a big, awful complainer for far too long? An email I received today from a very good friend. She’s the kind of friend that is honest and caring. She has a huge heart, but she also tells you the truth – whether it stings or not. Honest friends are the best kind of friends. Sometimes, we need people to bring us back to reality and keep us accountable. So go read the article she emailed me (don’t forget to watch the short video on the page) and then come back and finish reading my blog. What are you waiting for? GO! Yes, I’m shouting again:-) And don’t forget to come back.
Now that you’re back, make a resolution with me. Ready for it? Stop being busy complaining and start being busy living life to the fullest. Let’s stop complaining, but for more than 24 hours. Let’s make an effort to stop complaining PERIOD. Yes, I know that we’ll have days where we need to vent and get it all out. So vent to ONE person and then drop it. Don’t dwell on it. Dwelling on life’s challenges causes a snowball effect and before you know it, everything in life seems bad. Blah! Who wants to feel that way?
This will be tough for me too, but we can do it together. We get so much joy out of life, when we are positive. So put on a smile, even if you really don’t feel like it at first. The longer you smile, the less forced it will become. Before you know it, you’ll be smiling because you are…HAPPY! So go on, get your smile on and STOP COMPLAINING!
Don’t roll your eyes at me…just smile:-)
